I come to the cross with questions.
- I come seeking answers and direction
- I come hoping for comfort and courage
- I hear and believe we are called to love our neighbors and our enemies.
How do I love a neighbor who seeks to kill me?
Does removing their access to an AR-15 open transformation of hearts?
If there were no guns would they use knives, swords, and stones?
If there were no knives, swords and stones would they use words and gestures to divide and to separate?
If no words or thoughts were involved could they devise bombs and planes or politics and unsuspecting masses to escalate hatred and love of evil to remove their enemies?
Are we called to stand in silent submission surrendering our life, leave none to teach except for our martyred worldly selves?
You have shown us resurrection from death. Are we who are faithful to your heart called to step forward into the face of the enemy offering cheeks left and right until our enemy tires or devours us?
Are theirs times to take up our sword, to wear two tunics and to carry extra shoes for the journey?
How will we recognize the face of peace? What does your peace taste like to people who only taste their sweat and sweetness?
How many must die before we step forward in your name, to stop those who value only their life and not the lives of others who for your sake value life?
If you broke through to reveal yourself through my life, what do I need for the journey?
When is there enough death and destruction and perversion and shouting and blaming and people turn to you?
When will you be revealed?
How then do I reveal your power and presence? By taking one for the team or stopping those who murder and profane?
If I believe you have prepared a place for all who trust in you, and if indeed you have granted access to eternal life, and if this world is not my true home, and your enemies pave the way for us to enter your glory, then why are we not lining up to be ushered into your arms?
Are we afraid of your veracity? How do we know your timing and your will?
If we believe you have prepared a place for us here in this realm to transform the world into your disciples, how can we complete this task if we are being killed by those who do not love you and your created?
How long will we speak of peace and when how to make peace? Who defines what is just enough to battle beyond words and hopes?
If everyone respected each other’s words and views conversation and community would be obvious and easy, how do we talk with people who do not want to listen?
Is the only speech that might be heard is the witness of our lives? Have we been trying our way for our good so long that we have missed you ways? Have we made our ways, your ways from our point of view?
If you turned today, and no one changed their hearts and minds from how they lived yesterday, who would be with you in paradise today?
How long will people place their trust in Governments over your authority? How long will people seek to be right instead of being yours?
Love the Lord your God will all you are.
I can do all things in Christ’s strength
Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God, who maintains covenant loyalty with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,
No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing, he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it.
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.
He shall judge between the nations, and shall arbitrate for many peoples; they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.
“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
He said to them, “But now, the one who has a purse must take it, and likewise a bag. And the one who has no sword must sell his cloak and buy one.
But if you do what is wrong, you should be afraid, for the authority does not bear the sword in vain! It is the servant of God to execute wrath on the wrongdoer.
Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
I pray for your word, your direction, your strength and your vision.
Open our eyes, ears, mouths and hearts that we might know and praise you.
Prayers and discernment continues..
